Pumpkin Carvin'

For family night last night we had some yummy chili for dinner and made chocolate chip pumpkin cookies for dessert. Our activity for the night was our annual pumpkin carving! Jonathon did so well this year, he had such a blast using his little carving kit, cleaning out the pumpkin on his own, with the pumpkin he picked out. Jake made it through the night with no injuries too, I say this because he always has to use the hugest knife ;) Caleb was a sleepy baby after dinner so he slept through our festivities, which is probably good because he is mr. grabby and would have wanted to stick his little chubby hands in the bowl of goo so bad! We love coming up with fun ideas every year about what kind of faces we will do. Jonathon wanted a scary face so I helped him design exactly what he had in his mind. Daddy always gets a huge funny looking pumpkin and always makes his pumpkin faces large and unique looking. We had a fun night, sticking our hand in the goop is always fun and watching Jonathon's face as he did so was hilarious. Before we had kids, Jake and I got into a pumpkin "goo" fight, we will not do that when the kids are around, it would get out of hand, but it is oh so tempting! Laughing, talking, snacking on our cookies, coming up with fun ideas, working together, is a family night to remember this year. We are so blessed to have each other!

This year I decided this was the most perfect looking pumpkin I have ever had :) I almost didn't want to cut into it.

Our glowing pumpkins!!

Glowing on our porch for all to see! Happy Halloween 2010!
