Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. I was surrounded by those I love and missing those far away. Hopefully next year I can spend Mother's Day with my mom! I loved having a my little baby Caleb this Mother's Day, having a newborn kind of made it extra special and magical. I felt so loved as I always do and feel very blessed. On Saturday we had a picnic at the beach on a beautiful sunny day here in WA. It was Caleb's first time at the ocean and he was very relaxed and happy the whole time, who wouldn't be with the sun on your face, 75 degree perfect weather and the sounds of the waves! We got a few cute pictures of our fun day. We had McDonald's as our wonderful picnic lunch, at Jonathon's request. Normally it wouldn't have been this, we hardly ever eat fast food, but he had been wanting it all week so, we made him happy.

On Sunday morning I woke up to the smell of beautiful pink roses by my bed and then the boys served me Jake's famous french toast in bed too. I received some yummy chocolates and cute cards and just cherished a relaxing morning with my family.

Jake spoke in church on Sunday afternoon! He gave a wonderful talk and I was so excited that he was speaking on Mother's Day. I was proud of how well he handled such a hefty topic on such an important day, there was a lot of pressure I think and he stuck to the topic without adding bunches of stories all about perfect Mother's. I know on Mother's Day some women can feel guilty when all they hear are stories of these "perfect moms." Anyway, he spoke on this paragraph in the "Proclamation to the World," which you can read in full here. Jake's parents were able to attend and we were happy to have them come.

"Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. "Children are an heritage of the Lord" (Psalms 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations." I love this paragraph! It pretty much sums it all up for me :)

Jonathon made me the cutest little Mother's Day gift in primary and it warmed my heart, he is getting so big! For dinner we went over to Jake's parents and all the family came. We had a great time chatting, opening gifts, and enjoying the delicious dessert I happily made for the grand occasion. All in all it was a great day! Hope all my mommy friends had a great day as well and felt so loved!

Last but not least, I have a few words to my Mama:

Mom, I know you will read this soon and even though I wrote in a card already for you I just wanted to let you know again and again how much I love you. I look up to you tremendously, for your strength, service, courage and faith. Thank you for loving me so much, thank you for being such a ray of light in my life. Your smile, your laughter, your dancing (haha) and the way you embrace life has made my life wonderful. You are my best friend and I love you for just being you.

And... to my Grandma Helen, we just found out she has breast cancer and we are all very saddened by this news and very scared. Grandma you have been there for me since day one in my life, literally, you are the best Grandma in the whole world and I love you deeply. You have always believed in my dreams, given me such good advice, tell wonderful stories, and have helped our family is so many ways. You are the best chef I know, I love being taught by you and you are so beautiful and I miss you so much!

Me with my third boy who has made me a mommy :)
I just love this, me smiling away, Jonathon trying to smile while his brother is screaming in his ear ... we were trying to get him to smile but obviously he had enough!

First of all: That trifle looks amazing!

Second: Happy Mother's Day to you. Your three boys are sure lucky to have you as their mother. And your husband is lucky to have you as his boy's mama!
