Jason Mraz concert 🎶

Jake and I celebrated my birthday early by going to Dallas to see Jason Mraz in concert. He is one of my favorites and I had been wanting to see him for a long time. It has kind of become a tradition for my birthday celebration to see a concert and have a fun night in the city.

One of my favorite memories was seeing Celine Dion in concert on the actual day of birthday when we were living in Seattle. We had a weekend getaway, thanks to Jake's sweet mother. We had the best time eating at Stanley & Seafort's, an amazing restaurant that overlooks the city lights, then watching the concert, where I literally burst into tears right when we walked in the arena. We stayed at a lodge that weekend right on the water, so nice. That's one thing I miss there, having the ocean so close! And having instant babysitters :) This is the first time we've lived without any family near, it's hard sometimes!

Anyway, we found this amazing outdoor Mexican restaurant in Dallas to eat at before seeing Jason, it was delicious.

When the sun went down all the Dallas city lights turned on and it was gorgeous! It was our first time seeing Dallas at night. What a magnificent city! The lights are so diverse and colorful, there are skyscrapers outlined in green lights, hot pink, stars, etc. really fun!

The concert was held at the Winspear Opera House, which is so gorgeous! Oh my gosh it was breathtaking. The chandelier behind me was ginormous and then right before the show started it moved up into the ceiling, it was so neat.

My hot date!

Jason Mraz was incredible, he is so talented. His songs have always touched my heart. Most of them are love songs, my favorites, and that made it a great date night. He even mentioned it during the concert after he looked out at the crowd, he said, "I see a lot of couples here tonight, aww it's date night!" :)

His voice sounds just as good live as it does on the radio, he truly is so talented, funny, and down to earth. He has some amazing charities and is very environmentally conscious, as he told us about his organic avocado farm :)

I'm so glad we were able to get away and celebrate my birthday in such a fun way together. I'm grateful the kids did great, I was nervous to leave them and be far away, Dallas is an hour from our house. But we left them with our amazing babysitter, the sweetest girl from church who is second to oldest of 8 kids! She can make bread, play soccer, and clean up with a baby on her hip :)

Date nights are so important. It's a time where we can talk alone without any distractions, leave any worries or troubles behind us just for one night so we can enjoy each other and have fun!
