Mother's Day 2014

My first Mother's Day with a daughter was extra special! While I'm always spoiled by my boys on this day, having Isabella by my side this time to enjoy it with was heart warming. I thought much about the generations of magnificent women in my family as I looked at her and wondered what kind of mother she would be, what things she would find joy in, and what things she would have to endure. She comes from a long line of strong women, who have overcome much, and loved much. She has strength to draw from and she is the link to continue on our legacy of motherhood :)

When I woke in the morning all the kids came in with Jake, giving me breakfast in bed, foot massages, cards and gifts. My favorite day of the year! It was so relaxing, and while I feel of their love and appreciation throughout the year, on this day I really felt my hard work was noticed!
My favorite gifts were the homemade ones the boys made at church, they are so sweet and make me laugh!

Motherhood is not for sissies, as my grandma says. I'm so grateful to be a mom, it's the best calling in the world. Motherhood has taught me so much, about myself, about the true purpose of the family unit, about life, about the purest joy and sorrow, and about Gods plan. I'm so grateful for my mom, she is one of my greatest blessings. Her light, love, strength and passion are a gift to me everyday. I don't know what I'd do without her! I'm so glad she put up with my bratty teenage years so that we could be best friends today :)
