This picture brings back so many fond memories for me. We moved into this house when I was 8, Jonathon's age. I never imagined my own kids would experience Christmas mornings here like I did. I love it.
Here is Jonathon bright and early, couldn't sleep, thought he heard santas boots on the roof, waiting for the okay to come down :) so cute! The anticipation!
Happy guy! The boys love their Seattle Seahawks! We opened gifts one at a time so Christmas morning would last long. It is so fun watching our kids one by one scream with delight over a gift, watching them look under the tree for their name and unwrap them so fast to see what they got. We also read the true story of Christmas and it was a neat experience, because as the boys are getting older we can see the comprehension and amazement in their eyes, and it reminds me, as the scriptures say, to be childlike. So believing.
Christmas Day we headed to Carmel and monterey for the weekend and stayed at the cutest little cabin in the woods by the sea!
Our cute cabin, it felt like I was in a storybook. The boys loved every part of it. They were so excited to be there.
Caleb loved the little rocking chair that was just his size! He also loved helping my dad build the fire :) We all camped out in the great room by the fire since that was our only heat source, it was fun being all stuck together in one room while my parents got the only bed room in the cabin ;) This was roughing it for me, it was like camping. That's as far as I go.
The boys took nature walks with Grandpa and aunt Brittany in the mornings while I made Belgian waffles for everyone. The rivers and waterfalls were so beautiful!
The rickety old bridge by the cabin was a source of much entertainment for these guys and they scared themselves each time they ran across, hoping it would break :) Grandma wouldn't go across but I did and they cheered haha
The next day we visited rocky point which has to be the most beautiful place! Breathtaking. We took a hike on a trail that lined the cliffs and below was the most beautiful Aqua blue water pools. There is something freeing when you stand and look out at the sea. You realize how small you are compared to it. How marvelous the works of our Heavenly Father are.
This boy, my caleb is something else. It wasn't that cold out, but he was very into vests at this time. And many layers of his favorite shirts. He had so much fun chasing grandpa and uncle Alex into the water, making sand castles with me, and exploring the tide pools for crabs!
We had such a wonderful time spending Christmas by the sea, visiting our favorite restaurants, beaches and shops. This is a tradition I'd like to keep going :)
