This is one of the many reasons I love having boys, baseball! I love cheering them on at their games and practices and I love how darn cute they look in their uniforms :)
Jonathon is on the Tigers team, #2, and his little friend Trent Wilcox is on the team as well. They are good buddies and I am so glad they are on the team together. Who would have ever thought my old high school girlfriend and I would have boys on t-ball teams together later in life in Fresno!
Jonathon had his first baseball game last Saturday and he did so good! He hit the ball each time and played first base and third base. It was such a beautiful sunny spring day and we just enjoyed every minute of it watching our first kid play baseball.
He had such a fun time playing in his game, that's all he talked about all weekend. He has another game tonight and is already dressed for it, three hours early! Too cute.
My Mom and Grandpa and siblings came out for the came. We really loved all the support and I know Jonathon loved all the eyes on him. The kids are so fun to watch at this age. His team ranges from 4-6 years old. Wherever the ball gets hit they all run to get it, so it's like this swarm of bees towards the ball and then they fight over who gets it haha. Oh it makes me laugh. Jonathon's learning though, especially when he's on a base, to stay in his area and let others get the ball, but it's a little hard for him because he's such a go-getter.
At the end of the game all the parents made a tunnel. It was so weird because I remember doing this hundreds of times at my brothers games and now it was my turn to do it for my own child. Sometimes it's offsetting, being the parent, when you still feel young. The players got a bunch of treats and Jonathon said that was his favorite part.... of course!
My mom was reminding my Grandpa about the time she made me play softball to be a little more well rounded since I was in ballet and piano most of my growing up years. I hated every minute of it. We were called the Lightning's and I was everything but that description, slow. I never hit one ball and I was put outfield all season where I never caught one fly ball. I was so mad I had to do it and still don't see the point. My mom never made my sister who was very into sports take ballet to be well-rounded, so... hmmm. Anyway, we had a good laugh talking about that. It was cute because then my almost 90 year old adorable Grandpa told us about his baseball days as a kid playing catcher :) Love him. I'm so grateful we live near and that he is able and eager to come to his great-grandson's baseball games.
