We went to Monterey and Carmel for Presidents Day! My mom, sister Brittany and I took the boys.
We had such a great time and I'm so glad the weather held up for us and didn't rain.
We went to old Fisherman's Wharf and went on the glass bottom boat.
This was Caleb's first time on a boat and the boys soaked up every second.
They loved watching the sea lions and sea otters swim in the water
and they loved exploring the kelp forest underneath the sea.
Such an amazing earth we live on, I love sea life!
Being out on Monterey Bay brought back old fun memories of 7th grade when I went there on the whale watching boat ride with all my schools friends and my mom came as a chaperone. It rained the entire time on the boat, we saw no whales, but my mom bought me and my girlfriends warm dry pajamas for the bus ride home... it was such a fun field trip, everyone slipping and sliding on the boat :)
My mom gave Jonathon a little sea otter stuffed animal key chain,
he wore it on the zipper of his coat all day long....
and when he actually saw the cute furry things in the water he waved his key chain out to them,
as some sort of sign to them saying, I like you, see!
It made us all laugh pretty good.
We had lunch on the wharf and got goodies from the best candy shop for the beach.
We went to Carmel beach for the rest of the day, where Jake and I just were a few weeks ago.
Caleb didn't remember the beach too well and was in such a confusing state the whole time.
It wasn't up until the end of the day when he actually started walking in the sand and playing with it.
When we got there and I took off his shoes to feel the sand in his toes, he curled his toes and fell down and then wanted to put his shoes back on.
This boy needs to go to the beach more!
He ended up loving it though, laying on it, crawling through it and throwing it ;)
We had a great day and I'm glad we took our day trip here to getaway.
I'm so glad I get to spend spontaneous time like this with my mom and my sister, and they sure love my little boys.
The drive home wasn't so pleasant sadly. Jonathon suddenly had major ear pain and cried most the way home as I held him in the back seat. He just had a double ear infection two weeks ago and finished his antibiotics days before this trip. So we were bummed it came back. We have him on new antibiotics, hopefully it does the trick. Poor little guy, I had a lot of ear trouble at his age because my left ear canal is smaller than my right, and I actually can't hear that well out of it. Sorry kid for genetics. Hopefully he won't need tubes, we'll see.
Hope you all had a good Presiden't Day Celebration, I'm glad my 5 year old has learned so much at school about all Lincoln and Washington have done for us!
