7 is Heaven!!!

Where to begin!!! Last weekend Jake and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary in one of my favorite locations, Carmel- by-the-sea. It truly was a heavenly weekend, just the two of us, no kids allowed :) We stayed at the Normandy Inn, which is the cutest little Inn. Everything about Carmel is cute, it looks like a village from a storybook right out of a fairytale. My mom took my friends and I to stay here at the Normandy for my 15th birthday and since then I have wanted to come back. Jake and I have wanted to have a romantic getaway to Carmel since we were married and now that we live in California it is conveniently only two hours away from us! There is so much to discover about California alone, but in Carmel Jake and I spent two days discovering this beautiful town by the sea.

Before we headed out Saturday morning I woke up to this. I married the most romantic guy I know. He has been doing creative little surprises for me since we were dating in college as he used to do things like this for me in my apartment :)
I loved it, even though he went over-bored because I don't think I possess all those qualities!

It was a beautiful warm 70 degree day when we arrived. After we checked in we spent the rest of the day at the beach! We went to our favorite sandwich shop, packed our sandwiches, chips and drinks and had a picnic on the white sand. Heaven.

Watching the gorgeous sunset with my love

We can do anything hand in hand. The past seven years of life have dealt us some very rough bumps, but we always get through it.... together. Since the beginning of our courtship 8 years ago, Jake has been helping me through, and I him.

Love him, with everything he has gone through in life, he always has fun and always makes me laugh and smile

After the sun went down we relaxed in our cottage suite before dinner. It was so cute. You had to walk up a spiraling staircase to get to our room. In the room was a fireplace, very romantic if I do say.

Ocean view from the room :)

After relaxing in our room we were hungry enough to venture out. The town was lit up with twinkle lights and we walked all around hand in hand until we found the cutest rustic French countryside restaurant ever. It is called La Bicyclette. The ambiance was perfectly set and the food amazing. We literally felt like we were in France. The restaurant reminded us exactly of the movie Ratatouille! I wish that moment could have lasted much longer.

Cute little charming french houses inside

The next morning we had our cute continental breakfast at the hotel and then spent the day shopping around Carmel at the neatest shops (cottage of sweets, Jane Austen at home!)... and watching another gorgeous sunset.

What a perfect weekend. Great way to start off the month of love. Wish we could have stayed two weeks. Next time. I am so grateful for this man. He is the love of my life, my best friend, better half, the butter on my toast, and the past seven years have been the best years of my entire life. I am so blessed to have him and we are both blessed with a marriage and children like ours. Lucky number 7 baby! Eternity to go.

We love this area too and we are going to be so sad to leave it when we move in June. What is your favorite sandwich shop called?
