First Day of Kindergarten!

 Jonathon had his first day of Kindergarten last week at Dailey Elementary Charter School! Look how grown up he looks! He's so handsome. Dailey Elementary Charter School is a candidate school for the Primary Years Program. This school is an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that is important for students.

The week before school started we shopped for school supplies, hit Costco where he got to pick out everything he wanted in his school lunches, and said good-bye to late summer nights and started going to bed early. It was such an out of body experience doing all of those things, it made ME feel old. Doing the school routine that my mom did for so many years.

He has been so excited to start Kindergarten, especially since he goes to the same school that Grandma teaches at, how cool is that! He has to wear uniform at his school so the morning of his first day he got dressed and ready, hair done, shoes on, backpack on, everything, before Jake and I were even up! I heard a sound around 6:30 am, opened my eyes, and there he was all ready to go. That is so Jonathon! I'm so glad this was his attitude and that his two years of pre-school before this helped him. We all took him to school and watched as he lined up with his class.

 I love his teacher Miss Van Dun. She's my age and from San Diego and is so sweet and positive. We sent her a little teacher appreciation gift on the first day :)

I didn't think I would get emotional because he had pre-k last year which was similar, but now he goes to school everyday instead of two times a week, and he goes from 7:45 to 1pm. So as he walked away into class with his big ol' backpack on I cried. It is overwhelming thinking of all the schooling that follows, this is just the start for us. It has been hard waking up at 7 am each morning and making lunches everyday. I asked my mom how many years she did this and she said 18 years consecutively with no break. Great. He is loving each day and doing great all ready, and will do great at keeping up with the fast pace of this charter school. His teacher said he is outstanding, but I already knew this.
