First off, I got tickets for Jake's mom to fly in to Fresno for the big fiesta party. That was a great gift in itself. She stayed with us for a week and we had so much fun with her here, the boys sure missed their Grandma Rae!
Next I decided on a Fiesta themed party since Jake mentioned one day in passing, a taco truck would be awesome to get for his birthday. Jake is in love with taco trucks, and any Mexican food for that matter, its his favorite. He loves the culture as well, that love grew while he served his mission on the border of Mexico in Texas, serving a two year Spanish speaking mission for our church.
So with that, I ran with it. I hired a Taco truck to cater the food for the party, so nice on my part, they pull up and wallah, no cooking for me! Next I hired a Mariachi soloist to provide the music, how fun is that? What better way to add to the ambiance of a Mexican Fiesta party? Roberto was his name, and he was so nice and so talented, we hope to see him again soon :)
We invited mostly family and some friends and work friends of Jake's from the Clovis Castle. We held the party there at the Clovis Castle and it was so fun having it there. We were able to show our friends and family for the first time our new business.
It was great night, the tacos were so delicious, I got Jarritos (Jake's favorite Mexican drinks), and we had chips, salsa and fruit for side dishes. I had mustaches and flowers for the guys and girls to put on and we had some fun taking pictures as you can tell. I wish I could have rented a photo booth, that would have been cool, next time. We ate, talked, walked around the grounds, and the kids ran all around playing hide and seek in all the different rooms :) The pastry chef for the Castle made Jake the most amazing birthday cake ever! We were all speechless when she brought it in. I called her and asked her to make a little peanut butter cake with peanut butter filling, fiesta themed, for Jake and two dozen margarita and chocolate peanut butter cupcakes (so good!) for our guests... and she brings in this amazing cake that should be on a t.v. show! Everything was decorated so wonderful and tasted heavenly.
As the evening closed we sang happy birthday and Jake opened his gifts. Thanks to everyone who made it out, we had a blast celebrating such a special guy on his special 30th birthday. He's looking forward to his 30's! Lots of good things to come for this thoughtful, energetic, funny, hard-working, talented, creative, devoted, good-looking hunk.
Happy 30th baby, looking forward to the next 30! Ay yayay!
