My baby graduated last week! I feel like I'll be saying that again in 12 years, as far away as 12 years seems, I know it will come up all too fast!
Jon Jon graduated from Pre-Kindergarten and had the cutest little graduation ceremony. All the kids wore their little red cap and gown and wore red, white and blue flower lays. When Jonathon walked out we all were laughing because he looked so little, as did all the other kids, in their little outfits. It was the cutest thing. They sang patriotic songs which was really neat, recited the pledge of allegiance, counted in Spanish, and they also sang many songs they learned in class (which I heard a hundred times as he sang them around the house) about the seasons, animals, and the Fairmont school anthem. At the end they all introduced themselves by stating their whole names slowly like they do at graduation. It was so fun hearing his little voice say his whole name in the microphone and then walk off the stage with a big smile on his face.
We're so proud of our little boy, he worked hard this year, had his first homework assignments all year in which he never complained once! (we'll see how long that last!) Fairmont is an exceptional school and I'm sad he's leaving. Caleb will be there soon, that 3 year old class they offer is looking better and better :) Jonathon's teacher Mrs. Byrd is amazing and creative and hard-working. I'm so grateful he lucked out with such a great teacher to fully prepare him for Kindergarten. He could have went this past year, being that he's five almost six now, but we didn't want him being the youngest in school throughout his years, especially as a boy considering sports, dating, a mission, etc.
I'm so glad my family came out to support, as always. After taking pictures with everyone who loves our boy almost as much as we do, and saying good-bye to his teacher and friends , we told the graduate he could pick anywhere he wanted to go for dessert. He wanted ice cream, I don't blame him, it's been in the 100's here! We went to Coldstone at Fig Garden Village, one of my favorite places in town. There was a live band nearby playing in the middle of all the shops. He chose the blue ice cream with oreo's crushed inside. Great way to relax, talk, laugh, cool off, and end a special night.
On to Kindergarten this August at Grandma Linda's school, the Charter School, where she teaches 3rd grade! How fun is that going to be! Here we go, onto the next 12 years of his education, I'm already exhausted :)
