We were all so excited when Jake's mom Rae Lea came to Texas. She was SO kind enough to watch our babies for five days while we went on our celebratory cruise trip to the Caribbean. We got our first snow in late February and Jake and I were nervous we'd get stuck in it and have a hard time traveling to Galveston for our cruise! I was so worried about leaving Isabella for that long. We are never apart and she is very attached to me. Luckily she warmed up to Grandma Rae the moment she hugged her at the Dallas airport when we picked her up! We had four days together before we left to get everyone settled, reacquainted, house stocked with food and supplies, schedules and routines written out, rides lined up for the kids with friends, and the list went on! It was stressful, but well worth it! We enjoyed playing in the snow with the kids. It really is so beautiful. Luckily we've never lived in an area as a family that snows all winter! It's fun at first, but I can only handle a few days. So luckily it melted in Seattle pretty quickly when we lived there, and has only snowed a few times here in Texas.
My little California baby didn't know what to think! Watching her walk on it, touch it, and eat it for the first time as a toddler was so funny. She waddled like a little penguin, so unsure of it. She was adorable. Even now she will point out the widow and ask me, "know?" for snow. She loved it.
Grandma always brings surprises and here is Bella wearing the new dress grandma handmade for her. Another special keepsake to add to our collection. We are so lucky to be on the receiving end of grandmas many talents!
Snow angels! I can't count the number of times he made them! :) Caleb loved the snow more than all of us. Every morning he had his snow gear on, ready to play.
Shopping with grandma for all the snacks they needed to keep everyone happy while mom and dad were gone.
Before we left Caleb had a rodeo day at preK and Grandma came! He was so happy she could be there to watch him play rodeo games, take class pictures, and have a cowboy lunch. Every kid in his class had their own cowboy boots, only in Texas!
Grandma Rae is a liscensed reflexologist and is amazing at it! She would do foot massages on brides and grooms in WA at the family business and it was always enjoyed. The boys know this and always ask for foot massages. She has used it many times to calm the kids down as babies, and still does it now to calm them down as big boys. Isabella loves her turn, and so do I! :)
On one of our days together I took my sweet other mom to a huge antique store in downtown Fort Worth. She loves antique stores and I have been eyeballing this place with her in mind for a while. It was really neat and had the cutest restaurant inside where we had little sandwiches and strawberry scones. Caleb loved it, he's such a good sport :)
