In July we took a family trip for Jonathon's Birthday to Disneyland and Laguna beach! Have I mentioned how much I love living back home, just a few hours from the best places in the country? :) This was Caleb's first time at Disneyland and Jonathon's second. Jake and I were so excited to take them and to see their faces. Jonathon was only Caleb's age the last time he went and so we knew it would be a whole new experience for him. I didn't know what to expect from mr. Caleb but I was right, he was overwhelmed and ecstatic the whole time. It was so fun going with my family; my parents, brothers, and sisters :)
We stayed nearby the park and drove up Friday night. After an awesome waffle breakfast at our hotel we got ready and headed for a full day at Disneyland. It's hard to try to do everything at Disneyland and California Adventures in one day and I am glad I had the mindset that now that we live here we don't have to try to do it all. So we focused on the kids and mainly Cars Land!
Cars Land just opened this past summer and if there ever was a Cars lover it would be Jonathon! Even though he now is kind of over it, he was obsessed with cars from ages 2-4. He had about four sets of every single car from that movie, would watch Cars every morning, had all the Cars toys, etc. Caleb is just now getting into cars and trucks and is now taking over all of those toys. Cars land was indescribable and so exciting, even for me! It really was like we were in the movie and that Radiator Springs had come to life. Honestly it was amazing and the Cars ride was the best ever. I have it all on video and the look on Jonathon's face as we raced in Lightening McQueen is priceless!
Grandma and Grandpa took Caleb to Bug's Life land and other kiddie areas where he could ride the rides. After cars Land we hit some of the other popular rides. We ate churros and whipped lemonade (the best) and watched the parades and shopped in the shops and took a bazillion pictures, but I'm only putting up these for now. Disneyland really is magical, as well as California Adventures. The boys also loved the Monsters Inc ride, Toy Story ride, and... Pirates of the Caribbean! That was a blast going on that ride all together in the boat, getting wet, and singing yo-ho yo-ho a pirates life for me! So fun.
This picture cracks me up, very attractive of my siblings ;) This was on Space Mountain, one of my favorite's. Jake and Jonathon are missing in this picture unfortunately. I couldn't believe Jonathon was tall enough for almost all of the rides and that he went on this with us! It was so fun, but I think he was a little terrified of this roller coaster in pitch black :)
Family Picture in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle :) Caleb's holding on tight to his Disney baby animals he wanted, thumper and dumbo. He loves baby anything! The best part was at the end of the night, when we were partied out, shopped out, ate too much and were ready to hit the sack. We watched the fireworks above the Castle and listened to all the Disney songs. One of the last songs was Baby Mine from Dumbo, which is our song for Ryan that we used to sing him in the NICU. Dumbo actually flew over the Castle during the song too. It gave me chills and it made me feel like Ryan was part of such a fun and memorable family vacation with us.
The next day we headed to Laguna beach, one of our favorite's. It is so beautiful there and the town is so neat, it would be a dream to one day live here. All the little shops by the beach and places to eat are so cool. We all headed to Sprinkles to get the best cupcakes ever to take to the beach with us. Then we had some Mexican lunch at this awesome restaurant by the beach. We spent the rest of the day building sandcastles, sun bathing and playing in the water (Jonathon was loving acting out the sandman from Spiderman). Family beach days are the best and we had a great time all together. My boys are so lucky to have all the attention on this side of the family since they have no cousins yet :) They are spoiled with very doting grandparents, aunts and uncles!
We took a few spontaneous snapshots of our little family that I actually adore! No photoshop either, it is actually that gorgeous here. We are blessed. I am so glad we took this little vacation and had this time together since Jake has been so busy lately with our business. We are looking forward to December when were are having a Ferguson (Mom's side) Family Reunion at Disneyland with my 30 cousins :) It will be awesome!
