NYC Pt.2

Waking up to beautiful spring days in New York with clear blue skies was so neat, we really lucked out having such great weather when usually it tends to be rainy and cold. Spring in Central Park was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! It was just gorgeous. Colorful buds were popping up on all of the trees everywhere we went. Chelsea and I were really looking forward to our "walk through central park." It was everything that I thought it would be, just like in the movies :) Central Park is huge! It really is amazing that an entire city was built around this gigantic natural park. When looking at a map it literally takes up a good 1/2 of Manhattan. When Chelsea and I woke up and put on our walking attire and headed out of our hotel towards central park, it felt like we were in a movie or a book, or some fictional story. It was so surreal and so much fun and we talked about how much we wished we could do it everyday... Wake up, walk through central park with our kids in their stroller with our cup of Starbucks like all the locals do. It's such a peaceful place. The trails, parks, bridges, statutes, old architecture, lakes, and views of the city are breathtaking. While walking we even saw this trail of little children all holding onto this rope with a teacher in the front and back of them. How nice is that, a preschool that takes strolls through central park or takes the kids to the beautiful parks to play there? Lucky. We had a wonderful time talking, walking, gazing at everything in sight, trying to take it all in. As we reached one end of the park we ended right where we wanted to be, at the Met!

The Met was astounding! I am so glad we put this on our "to do" list! I have never been to a museum quite like this, world famous! Everything was spectacular. The feeling I felt as we walked through different corridors, into different time period's, seeing part of history's most prized possessions, was overwhelming because of the significance that stood right in front of us. I realized then how much I love history and art and take too much of it for granted. My favorite pieces were the beautiful paintings and sculptures, especially of the dancer below. I want it in my house :)

The front of the Met is so beautiful, the architecture is amazing and reminds me of Europe. It's so huge! Everything in NY is huge! One our way back from the met to the hotel we stopped for breakfast at this little cafe', they had the best, NY famous, black and white cookie. We had never heard of this before but they ended up being sold all over NY. After searching it a little it is actually featured in lots of t.v. shows and is a symbol of racial harmony.  I knew you were all wondering so...FYI :)

Night life in NY is fabulous. Tons of people everywhere, busy, crowded, and beautiful at the same time with all the city lights glowing. One highlight of our nightlife experience was when Chelsea and I hit up the famous Serendipity! Famous for frozen hot chocolate! It lived up to the hype and to my expectations! So yummy! You better believe we ate that whole thing. We had such a great time, talking for hours in there and enjoying the ambiance around us (even though the waiters always get antsy with us, no matter where we go, because we lose track of time together!) Always have fun with that girl I tell ya. Anyway, Serendipity is so small in real life, we nearly missed it when driving by in our taxi. The little shop inside before you are seated is so funny with the oddest trinkets, Chelsea loved all the little nick knacks and souvenirs, especially the gummy treats. We both left with our packets of  frozen hot chocolate to make at home so we can re-live our Serendipity experience again. I love the name, serendipity means a happy accident, or pleasant surprise, which it totally was for us, and which is something I love in life. There have been a few "happy accidents" in my life that I hold dear to my heart and will always cherish.

Time Square = crazy! After a long day of shopping on 5th avenue, gazing in Saks at all the Prada we can't afford (yet) and spending hours in H&M, best store ever, we walked around the famous time square, amongst the sea of people from every country in the world. It was a little overwhelming walking shoulder to shoulder with everyone and we got a little claustrophobic. It was quite a sight though, really incredible. It was hard to take it all in because there was so... much! We did find a really cool place for dinner to settle down, that had an awesome view of time square. We had the best bacon burgers ever inside of this really cute restaurant with gorgeous chandeliers, and we talked and laughed at all the people outside rustling about :)

Good night New York! After another long day in the city, and all the club's and lounge's we visited at night, we headed back to the Marriott for some relaxing, where we once again stayed up all night long, finally deciding it was time to sleep when the sun started to rise.Who were we kidding, this is the city that never sleeps! :)
