My parents, siblings and my little family all went to the coast this last week. We stayed in Big Sur and visited Carmel, Pebble Beach and Monterey. My mom grew up here and it's like a second home to us. My grandparents lived in Pebble Beach, home of some of the most famous pga golf courses in the world. They lived off of 17 mile drive (as does Clint Eastwood), it's the most beautiful coastline and we visited them growing up all the time. My parents met here and it was cute watching them point out to all of us where there first date spot (Rocky Point picture below) was, where they lived, where my dad's old golf shop was, where they took wedding pictures on the golf courses, where my dad played golf all the time, where they first met, etc :) I was so surprised at how much Big Sur looked like Hawaii, honestly, the big green mountains, the aqua blue water and white sandy beaches. All just two hours away! Although it was overcast most of the time, it was still beautiful and fun!We stayed at a beautiful cabin in the woods in the canyon right across from the ocean. It was 100 years old but had the most beautiful decor and it was so cozy with the fireplace lit at night. It was so cute tucked back into the tall red woods. We were warned of some mice problems if food was left out over night, I was so freaked out (as was Jonathon haha) I cleaned the kitchen and family room sparkling with not a single crumb. I was so tired from such a full day (2 little sandy boys at the beach is no relaxing moment!) I slept all night surprisingly, even though I was freaking over sneaky mice running around! We woke up that morning and all was well. Well, so we thought. When my sister was looking through her purse, some ....droppings fell out of it and half of her cookie she stashed in there was eaten! Ewww! Besides the mice issue ( I know, I'm a wuss), we had a blast!

You are right...there really isn't anything like it. My husband and I live here and we are going to be sad to leave it when we move in about a year! The weather is always perfect!
